The Berenstain Bears and the Christmas Angel.

The Berenstain Bears and the Christmas Angel by Mike Berenstain is a lovely Christmas story. It does not focus on Santa or presents or even Christmas Trees. It's main focus is actually angels. The three cubs, Brother, Sister and Honey, set out to build a snowman on a beautiful snowy day. They decide to build a snow angel instead. They then learn all about the angel's involvement in the Christmas story. Mama and Papa explain to them that the angel announced Jesus's birth to Mary, guided the shepherds and warned Joseph to flee to Egypt. There are also many other angels mentioned in the Bible as well.

I enjoyed this short little story with my boys. I liked how it went beyond the manger sceen and into scripture. I also apreciated the list of other Bible passages involving angels at the back of the book. The illustrations were as good as always, my not yet two year old kept pointing "bwoter bare" out without a problem :) This book is a lovely add to our Berenstain Bears collection. The only little thing I didn't really like about the book is in the structure itself of the book. It is held together with staples. Not a big deal, but with literature-hungry little boys, it will fall apart sooner than if it were bound differently. But, other than that, definitely recommending this book to all!
